An Indiana Garden Tour
Take an Indiana garden tour with The Renaissance Garden Guy and see a collection of wondrous, blooming beauty that could have only been curated by 50 years of gardening experience and a profound love for all things green and growing.
Regular RGG readers and subscribers will know of my old friend, Kevin Richardson. I’ve been a most fortunate beneficiary of his friendship and thoughtful generosity over the years, and I’ve referenced a number of tangible manifestations of that friendship and thoughtful generosity right here on The Renaissance Garden Guy. For example, in the Old Tomes image gallery, readers will find a number of old and beautiful books that reside in my own library that were gifts from Kevin. He’s a wonderful guy who’s long on heart, diverse of interest, and loaded with knowledge. To put it simply, my friend Kevin is a Renaissance man. He really knows and loves old books and great literature. He really knows and loves the fine and decorative arts. He really knows and loves Major League Baseball. And the NFL. And NCAA football and basketball. And film. And history.
And he really knows and loves gardening.
“An Indiana Garden Tour,” which I’ve got for you right here, is a video that clearly showcases the results of all of that knowledge and love. As a man with over 50 years of gardening experience under his belt, and the propensity for planting and growing things in his DNA (he’s got generations of farming in his ancestry), Kevin grows one hell of an ornamental garden on his piece of land in the town of Dyer, Indiana. This video, which is slightly long-ish at over 16 minutes (but appropriately so), will take you through his outdoor sanctuary in step-by-step fashion. And this is one you’ll only be able to catch right here – it’s not featured on The Renaissance Garden Guy YouTube Channel.
So, click the image link immediately below, and enjoy this very special Indiana garden tour.
I hope you’ve enjoyed watching Kevin’s Indiana garden tour. I think you’ll agree that there’s a great deal of beauty – and history – to be found out there among the ranks of his garden’s denizens. I want to thank Kevin for allowing his garden to appear here on The Renaissance Garden Guy, and for all of his time and his participation in the tour. It could not have been properly conducted without him. And of course, my dear readers and subscribers, my thanks goes to each of you for your kind interest and continued readership and viewership.
Cheers, and Happy Gardening!

WOW those hostas and hydrangeas! There is something to be said for longevity in the garden as plants get established in a way you don’t see very often in the home garden. Well done!
Thanks for checking out this tour, Cathy. Your comment is excellent. You bring up a point that has always resonated with me: the longevity and “permanence” of long-established plants in a garden. I believe that each of these venerable organisms – “beings,” if you will – becomes a part of our lives, and marks the passage of time as well as all of our personal milestones. They are poignant and resolute pillars of the communities that grow in our gardens. You’ve made a remarkable observation, Cathy, and have commented upon it in beautiful fashion. And, I believe you may have given me the topic for for an original essay that I’ll be featuring here within the next couple of months. Many thanks, Cathy, for your kind interest and your wonderful thoughts.
Very much loved this feature, as well as the beautiful garden. I enjoyed the chance to see Keven’s extensive and multilayered garden.
Thank you, Rick, for checking out the feature and watching the tour of Kevin’s garden. It’s definitely obvious that his is a true labor of love. Thanks again, Rick!
WOW… what a marvelous big garden…. Thank you so much for the tour.. I really enjoyed every minute…
Love the butterflies 🦋 Thank you, it was a delight🙏🌸
Thank you for watching the video, Roxxy. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Kevin’s garden really is beautiful (and big, as you point out). He puts a lot of love into it, and he sure knows what he’s doing out there. Thanks once again!
John, your words are far too kind. I hope everyone enjoyed the tour. I know that I would like to see more garden tours in the future.
I’m glad you’ve approved, Kevin. Thank you so much for allowing RGG readers and viewers into your beautiful garden. And thank you for co-hosting the tour!
Thank you to you and Kevin for the tour of his vast and beautiful garden, hosta heaven! He’s nurtured his mother’s plantings so lovingly, how wonderfully they continue to thrive. And such pretty new additions as well, I saw a butterfly enjoying his garden too. I ordered Repellex, thank you for the tip! Really enjoy the videos, more please😊
Thank you so much for watching the video, Jill. Kevin’s garden, aside from being truly beautiful, is a really special place with a lot of family history. I’m not surprised, Jill, that you appreciated the poignancy of the care, love, and respect that Kevin allows his mother’s plantings (and his own, as well). Thank you again, Jill, for watching, and for your kind words and appreciation.
Nice segment on the joys of Hostas. Yes, Kevin can start his own Hosta business.
I had several around my old house in East Chicago. Living in AZ now, I no longer have the array of plantings, which I dearly miss. It’s always nice to see Kevin’s garden when I return for visits.
Thank you for watching it, Scott. Kevin’s garden really is amazing.
