A May 2025 RGG Garden Tour
There’s a May 2025 RGG garden tour lurking here in RGG YouTube Channel form. (You’ll find the link below.) It amounts to keeping tabs on my garden’s various planting beds as they recover from disastrous climate anomalies and equally disastrous decision-making.

Got a short one for you today, kiddos, at least in terms of what I’ve got written down here. The main feature is actually a video. A May 2025 RGG garden tour video, to be exact. The vid outlines the slow but steady recovery of my little hardiness zone 5B/6A Michiana Shores garden after three consecutive seasons of excessive drought, and illustrates the consequences of a few poor planting site selections. Consider this short written piece and corresponding pics (with explanatory captions) a preamble to the vid. Despite my atrocious filmmaking skills, the vid itself doesn’t suck too horribly, and the link to it follows the pics below.

The link to the vid is right below. Click it and be swept away by my own special brand of cinematographic magic. (Hey, new readers and subscribers, I’m totally kidding. I promise, you’re gonna suffer for my art – I’m the worst filmmaker ever. Still, the vid isn’t entirely stomach-turning and you honestly won’t suffer all that much.) So, girls and boys, grab some popcorn, dim the lights, hold on to your hats, and roll this bad boy. Here you go…
Not completely horrible, right? In any case, now anyone who’s interested has a pretty good idea of what yours truly is contending with garden-wise this year: the effects of crappy weather and dumb decisions. But hey, who said life was fair?
Thanks for checking out the vid, and, as always, thanks for your continued kindness and interest – I’m very, very grateful.
Cheers, and Happy Gardening!

Awesome info as always.
Enjoyed the tour very much.
Beautiful garden, can’t wait for the blooming flowers and all your little friends that visit, enjoying the nectar 🐝🦋🌺
Thank you so much, Roxxy – I’m so glad you enjoyed my little tour! My garden definitely took a beating over these incredibly dry past three seasons, and I personally look and act like a baboon in this video (just as I do in all of my videos), so it makes me very happy to know that, in spite of these detriments, you still got something out of it. Thank you once again, Roxxy!
Great video. Thanks for all the information about the effects of the dry weather.Your garden looks great. I look forward to more tours as the year goes on.
Thank you, Kevin – I’m happy you liked the vid, and I’m glad the info was useful. And yeah, the past few brutally dry seasons have exacted their toll – things have definitely looked better in my garden. If nothing else, a practical takeaway is to make sure to keep all your planting beds hydrated and well-mulched going into winter. You’ll save your plants and you’ll save yourself a lot of heartache and a lot of screwing around. Thanks again, Kevin!
Enjoyed the tour!
Many thanks, Lisa – I’m glad to hear it! I just wish things looked a little better out there (and that I was a better filmmaker)! Thanks once again!
I enjoyed this video. Your self-deprecating manner is not tutorial. It is welcoming and informative.
Many thanks, Rick – I really appreciate that. I don’t know if it’s just something that everyone experiences when they see/hear themselves in videographic form, but I literally wince every time I watch myself in my own videos. Ouch! Your thoughts and words are very kind and dearly appreciated, Rick, and, of course, your interest is, as well. Thank you once again!
