Loved Ones

Welcome to The Renaissance Garden Guy Loved Ones Gallery.  If the images presented here are of interest to no one but me, I’ll completely understand.  Besides, I’ll never know the difference.  If, however, you’d like to see those in my life who have mattered most to me, and always will, please do look around.  As with the other eighteen image galleries here in the main Photo Gallery, I’ll be adding more pictures here on a continuing basis.  (I’ve got a lot of friends and family, and their mugs are gonna get immortalized right here.  Getting to be too much like a digitized version of a bunch of old home movies?  You betcha.  Don’t care.  I love them all, and right here they’ll be.)  Among these many images, I’ll mention, in particular, the photos of my mother and my dogs.  I point these out because I’ve written here on The Renaissance Garden Guy about my mom and both of my pups.  If you’d like to know a bit more about them, please feel free to read “Thoughts of My Mom,” “Testament to a Friendship,” and “For My Dogs.”  There’s some pretty good background in each piece.  In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy these pictures.  I’ve included a few captions for little more than identification purposes – how can you cover an entire relationship in just a sentence or two?  Can’t be done, so I’m just including a few words that will hopefully strike a chord or two with you.  Cheers, and Happy Gardening!

My Aunt Becky and my sister Tina on 09-14-24.
Loved Ones
I had to go and ruin a great shot by sticking myself right in the middle of it. Talk about a turd in the punch bowl. At least the ladies are beautiful. 09-14-24.
Loved Ones
A little ensemble from my mom's home. It sat in her favorite corner in her living room for decades, and now it sits in my home, exactly as she'd maintained it.

Sophia's flowers had begun to fade, so I gathered them and will keep their dried petals in a prominent place in my home. The flowers may have faded, but my memories of Dee Dee never will.

Within less than a day of my piece, "Building a Memory," being published here on The Renaissance Garden Guy, Sophia G., a trusted employee of Dee Dee's at Customs Imports, and a young lady loved by both Dee Dee and me, placed this lovely bouquet on Dee Dee's memorial, photographed it, and notified me via text of this fact, and of her feelings and thoughts of the memorial. Sophia's actions are a testament to not only her love and appreciation of Dee Dee's innate goodness, but to her own wonderful goodness and character. Sophia is a fine young lady, in every sense. This photo was provided by Sophia G.

The limestone and bronze memorial I designed and built in Dee Dee's memory. The words are mine, and so was the planning and labor. It rests permanently in the little park across Whittaker Street from her former store, Customs Imports. In the heart of Downtown New Buffalo, the little town she'd loved.

My mom, Bessie Stamos, passed away on December 30, 2022 at the age of ninety-two. Anything that may be considered good about me I owe entirely to her and my dad.
